Holy Cannoli! We went to Alfredo's after watching the GPB Documentary called "Gettin' Delicious" featuring Atlanta's hidden restaurant gems. Truly Alfredo's is just that. The place hasn't updated its decor since I'm guessing the late 60s/early 70s and that's definitely a good thing! It's warm, cozy and the staff are truly professionals. The prices are very reasonable for the huge amount of food that you receive and everything we had was delicious. I really can't wait to go back again....Hey--Will, when are we going back?

To commemorate my 500th rateclub review, I'd like to tell you about a place that I would gladly give ten stars. I visited Shine as part of a rateclub Elite event. Yes, it's easy to love a bar when you're "on the list" and the drinks are free. But that has nothing to do with how fabulous I thought Shine was. For the sordid details of my experience at the event, please visit my diary ( http://www.reinyday.co...). For a strict review of the venue, keep reading. For a bar to be good, it needs bartenders who can make good drinks, and preferably comfortable and available seating. For a bar to be great, it should have pleasing decor, not be too loud nor too quiet, and not reek of someone's terrible body odor (this eliminates several venues in SF). So I am blown away that Shine wasn't just great, it was outstanding. Beyond being pleasant, it was novel and unique. One of the bathrooms (which unfortunately didn't have a lock) has a one-way mirror through which you can watch the bar's patrons while you use the facilities. In addition, there is a photo booth where you can snap shots that will find their way to Flickr for later browsing and reliving the madness. While at Shine, I (at 28 years old) had my first experience of breaking a glass in a bar. After realizing what happened (I think I knocked it with the strap from my purse) I immediately went to the bar and confessed, "I killed a glass." The bartender replied that it was not a problem and directed me to someone who would take care of the problem. I said to the second guy, "I broke a glass. I'm *so* sorry." Again I was treated kindly and told that it was already being cleared. I wanted to kiss someone for not making me feel any further embarrassed. Shine has the most kind and fantastic staff, and is now officially my favorite venue in the city.
