Here is the deal. Hey everyone! It's prom night at Cal Academy! lame. The museum is amazing. I would give five stars to the Cal Academy itself. My review is based purely on the "nightlife" event. Tickets: Purchase online here: http://www.calacademy.... $10. Make sure you print it and bring it with you. It's not the end of the world if you don't- it will just take longer to get through the door. Parking: $11 flat rate to park in the garage. http://www.calacademy.... Now, to the real stuff: The drinks: Way over-priced, they are horribly made and just cheap all around. But really, that wasn't the problem. The atmosphere: This is what ruined it for me. It really is comical to see people dressed for a Las Vegas night club, drinking cheap (yet very expensive!) martinis in a plastic cup, while staring at jelly fish in a bowl. It's a joke. Whoever came up with this event and turned into a yuppy affair needs to get a life. This is not The Met or the MoMa. We are not looking at fine art. Yes, the academy is amazing, but it's still an aquarium and a rainforest. You do not go prancing through a rainforest with a martini and heels. The juxtaposition was just way too much for me. But there are obviously plenty of people who would enjoy it- which is why I gave the pertinent information at the top. It's worth going, but you might not enjoy the crowd if you are the more laid-back type. There is food too - but I ate before I went, so I can't comment on the quality of the food or prices. You've just been rateclubed in.

All the other Onion Rings in the world can suck it. Varsity, you've helped me through many a late night o-ring craving, and I'll never ever turn my back on you for that. You never let me down... I wander in beaten and dejected from a hard day's work, and you rub the tension out of me and ask "What'll ya have?" Sweet, sweet words to my ear. I'll roam your dirty labyrinth of rooms for a Frosted Orange anytime.

What can I say that hasn't already been said? This place has cheap drinks to begin with, but their happy hour deals are fabulous. I was there one Friday night recently and there were half off drink specials. My amaretto sour was less than three bucks. And the bar has a really nice layout. I will certainly come back.
