by Ken T. on Being a bit of a weho ho in socal (check my list), I had been waiting to check out some gay bars out in the area. Hearing great reviews of the place, we came here this past Friday night for a few drinks after my birthday dinner. Upon arrival, the parking lot was packed! A bit crazy, especially since we thought we were arriving at a pretty decent hour. There's parking on the side streets with a bit of searching. Loved that there was no cover and the line speeds along pretty quickly. The place gets pretty packed, but luckily for two levels and an outdoor patio, mobility is not really an issue. The bartenders are really nice and you can get your drinks pretty quickly. DON'T be deceived by the size of the plastic cups - that just means the alcohol is highly concentrated. Downstairs a drag show was going on which was a bit lackluster than what I had anticipated. Maybe a rough night? tough crowd? too many Rihanna ballads? Who knows? Didn't phase me too much, as I'm sure I'll be back here again in the very near future *cough Kathleen Cough* BTW, where are the gaysians at? I need friends! =P
by Kenny Yager on The Georgia Aquarium should be considered a wonder of the world as it houses the world's largest tank, about the size of a football field. At almost $30 for general admission I really hoped it would be worth it and it was, especially since my sister treated. We went on a Wednesday at noon. The Georgia Aquarium web site is really helpful and suggests low traffic times to visit (at opening or after 3pm on weekdays). We had my 2.5 year old niece with us and she led us around to the next fascinating thing to see. I think if I hadn't been with a kid I loved the aquarium could have seemed overrun with strollers and other kids but don't let that deter you. Take the afternoon off of work, grab a friend, go see this place. It is really beautiful and an oasis from the city around you. When was the last time you said wow and really meant it? How about being slack jawed in awe of something you've never seen before? It's worth the price of admission, I promise.
