I go to Player's at least once a week, since I work in the downtown area. I normally go for the cheeseburger combo with fries, which is always good for me. I've gotten to know the staff there and they're some cool dudes. It's especially good to go when UT have home games, you get to eat good food and be around fans, whom are loud and having a great time.

I hate to be the party pooper here but this place would be so much cooler if our tab wasn't some ridiculous $600. Oh and they totally screw you when you have a party menu. The brought out the tiniest little plates for us to eat. Um, just because I want to be as skinny as those "girls" onstage doesn't mean I'm going to starve myself. Give me food! It really was ridiculous how much we paid for how little food and how mediocre it was. I'm still convinced they screwed up and forgot to bring us the rest of our dinner. Seriously. As for the show...all I could think was "this is it?" Lip synching Madonna songs on a bar? All because you were/are/are half of a boy? Um I paid good money I would like some entertainment. I honestly felt like the downstairs bar/dance area was so much better. Even the "girls" dancing down there were more fun. If the prices weren't so outrageous I might come back. But once is enough for now. Plus, it makes you super depressed that their bodies are 100 times better than yours will ever be. Shit.

I'm not a bar/club kind of girl, but I usually have a blast at MJQ. Like any clubbing experience, it depends a lot on the people I go with, and whether we "click" over the course of the night. The cover price seems to have doubled from $5 to $10 over the past few years, so that sort of stinks, as I tend to avoid cover prices and search for free Ladies Night opportunities. However, the establishments offering such bargains tend to be lame. The bar is cash-only, which isn't that big of a deal, since there is a glowing, spaceship-like ATM inside, beckoning drinkers to make withdrawals. The music always is good, encouraging me to slough off my white girl shell and flail like a piece of seaweed without care. Plus, the crowd is cool and non-judgmental, and truly there to dance, not engage in seedy behavior. Seriously, one of my girlfriends left her purse on a stool at MJQ last weekend, and when she returned a couple hours later to look for it, it was still there. While the fun factor for all my social outings depends on the group of people I'm with, MJQ makes it easy to have a great time.
