Went to Kat's for the first time this week. It's what I guess you'd call a "hole in the wall" spot but I mean that in a nice way. I went to hear a live latin/salsa band play and to get a little dancing in. I was able to do just that. It's small and hard to find if you don't know where to look. The drinks that night were just ok. My friend ordered a pizza but didn't really like it. I didn't try the food. I'll definitely go back to hear a band play in laid back atmosphere. Oh, and maybe not every Wednesday but when I was there they had free salsa lessons which was fun.

I'm really surprised to see what low ratings this place has gotten! Have I been totally lucky the times I've stumbled drunkenly into the Drake hotel and had magical experiences here? Once the walls were covered in the most beautiful red roses (South American, I was told) and I had fabulous drinks at a packed bar. On another occasion the bouncer let me and my gal pals in sans-cover charge and we danced in front of jaw-dropping nightscape views of the city. Maybe I've been lucky, but every experience I've had here has been classy and fun. Don't miss out trying it on a Fri/Sat night from the bad reviews!

Trudy's . . . . what can I say? I've been a looooong time customer for drinks on the patio (this is not a review of the food). There use to be great customer service--super loyal wait staff. The atmosphere was relaxed and happy. If a table wasn't available, you shared. Nowadays, the wait staff doesn't seem to last long and so you get a waiter in training. They don't know you or your drink. You have to hunt and kill for table. The atmosphere is seems more chaotic than fun. And am I crazy or do the margaritas taste different? One haterd I've always had is the volume on the speakers. I'm here with friends I want to hear and talk to. I'll go back because I'm a sucker for patios, but I've lost the love.
