Sweat. Oh yes, that's what this place smelled of, and not in the good way. Oh wait, is there a good way of having a sweaty bar? Maybe? I'm not sure, but this wasn't good for me. Convinced friends to come here several weeks back to meet up with a friend for their birthday. There might always be a line to get into this place, but I'm not exactly sure why. It was crowded, dingy, and again sweaty. The drinks were alright. But now I completely forgot what we had ordered. And there was cover? Blah. Nevermore...

I have to give this place 4 stars, not necessarily for the food, but because it is such a BIZARRE place. It's a Disney world ride combined with 70s fondue, and oh yeah throw in live alligators and live jazz! The restaurant is a an old sailing ship and dock...pirate theme through out The service was good, the waiters were knowledgeable and helpful. This place is unlike anywhere else in North America, and worth a trip once just for the experience.

We recently discovered this place, after asking people if there was anything like NYC's "Don't Ask Mama" here in SF. This is the closest it gets to that fun cabaret/piano bar where the waitstaff pick up the mikes as often as customers for great sing-alongs. Martuni's is a bit more formal, but certainly not stuffy or uptight. The decor is over the top glam, and the patrons run the gamut from glorious queens and Tony Bennett wannabes to trendy singles looking for that magic someone. This is a great place for fun with friends. Do you like to sing? The pianists take requests -- even better if you bring music. Do you like to drink? The bartenders are friendly and generous. Do you want to relax? The waitstaff take care of everything, and make the evening fun and almost effervescent. Can anyone recommend anything like "Don't Tell Mama" here in the Bay Area? We'd love to know!
