by Pablo Plona on Spice Market = yummy food, different/new taste options, great service, beautiful atmosphere, very modern, etc. etc. Highly recommended. make a night @ the W Midtown soon!
by Denis Bankson on Don't believe the hype. Everyone gets so excited about Duvet...why?! 1 - The drinks are ridiculously overpriced. $14 for a vodka soda with what tasted like Georgi vodka. You must be kidding. 2 - Bridge and Tunnel guys with egos bigger than Kanye's. I'll never forget how some B&T-er tried to come up to me and start a conversation. He claimed to be a trader. And I'm the Queen of England. (His shoes were vinyl, definitely not leather, he was wearing an Affliction t-shirt, and didn't know what a variance swap was.) 3 - I had a jacket and a linen scarf that I wanted to check. I totally stuffed the scarf in the sleeve of the jacket, and the coat check guy had the audacity to charge me for the jacket AND the scarf. 4 - The DJ did not know how to drop tracks. It was like listening to Top 40 radio. 5 - The bathroom was really confusing.
by Wilbur L. on dropped into margarita jones on sunday for brunch. why do you ask? because we had a buy one, get one 50% off coupon. woot! since we were starving, once we were seated, we made a bee line for the buffet line. the spread consisted of a few tables contained steam trays, a dessert table, a taco stand, a soup stand and a veggie/fruit stand. i grabbed a plate and without thinking, found myself in front of the kind lady at the taco stand. she was making corn tortillas.....fresh! omg! i snagged a couple tortillas and loaded one up with pollo and the other up with carne asada. next to the proteins was the salsa bar. i am simple and liberally sprinkled cilantro, onion and pico de gallo over the two tacos. i went back and noshed down the the tacos and boy the tortillas were gooooood!!! the pollo was a bit dry but the carne asada was nice and juicy. i ended up eating 2-3 more carne asada tacos. i went back to grab some soup. they had pozole and menudo. i snagged a bowl of pozole and the menudo. we layered in some onions and cilantro for an extra kick. since my eyes were still big, i dropped by the steam tables and snagged a couple pork ribs in green sauce, chiquiles (sp?) and beef stew. the pozole was just aight and i didn't like the menudo. the soups were watered down and did not ahve much flavor. perhaps i am not a mexican soup person? the ribs were decent but devoid of meaty flavor as they were probably par boiled. the chiquiles (sp?) were quite good as was the beef stew-ish dish. please note that the sunday brunch is a champagne brunch. after our second trip to the buffet line, we still had not been served champange. wtf? every since table around us has champagne but us! we flagged down our waiter and asked him for some champage. he initally gave us the "deer caught in headlights" look...then he blurted out: "but champagne comes with brunch". no shit sherlock. we were asking for our flutes of champagne. durr! once his brain registered our request, he poured us some champagne. service was bleh overall. our waiter disappeared for extended periods and the waitress working the other side of the room ended up topping off our champagne. our waiter would drop in and ask if everything was ok. dude, you offer zilch service and check in after the our service requests are attended to by another person. slacker!! plates were not cleared quickly either. weak. dessert was decent. i enjoyed the churros a lot but the flan was much too milky for me. i was glad that we had the coupon because the food and service was definitely not worth $16.99 per person. go here for the aycd champagne and the taco stand. everything else was bleh to just ok.
