by Caprice Lands on If you're with me on a random night and we're headed here, you'll probably the following, "I don't do lines." The last couple times I came here were for parties sponsored by some booze or record or company or magazine. There's usually a line outside and my buddy usually just goes straight to the front of the line and somehow, I don't know how, we get in no questions asked and with minimal static from the people on line behind us. I never understood the stars and long walkway that take you into the ballroom itself, the layout seems odd...er, poorly designed. The bars are in odd places and not easy to get to and the bathrooms are only slightly better. When you're at a party where free booze is involved, easy access to the bar is a must. The Hiro isn't too big on that...probably how they keep overhead low. The music is generally good, and when I'm in the mood to be overcharged for drinks and trance out a little bit...which is hardly ever...I might head over here.
by belinda n. on 1 star for easy, ample & free parking 1 star for being close to the metro gold line if you get too drunk to drive ( very hard for me to imagine anyone wanting to get loaded here) 1 star for free food at the bar/happy hour (if youre un employed/ homeless or your palette is non existant, then you have found heaven at their "appetizer" table) the fiancee & i stopped in on a mon nite after 9 pm so theyre open late our server was nice & attentive & not annoyingly fake nice 2 margaritas, my entree salad & my dude's entree plus tax $50 something... my entree salad= romaine, cold dry chicken, cold dry "carnitas", 3 chunks of avocado (smaller than a die) some haphazard peices of tomato, all in an unseasoned, unsalted tostada shell the dude's entree= "chile verde" & his first comment was "this is all the rice?" our cadillac margs were good.. the food here sucks big time..
