by Jewel Shutler on Interesting spot. Came here with friends on a Thursday night. It wasn't as jammed as the other reviews keep saying it was. The place was clean and the staff was really friendly. I really like the fact that there was so much room to sit around. I was told that apparently there were many other events going around that night that were similar to the DJ spinning here the night we went and that is why it wasn't as packed as usual. So I guess we got lucky going there on a night where we had enough space to run around :) I call in interesting only because some of the people that come to this spot are just ... strange. I don't know if its a norcal thing or what but some of the creepiest people come out at night in this city. Anyway I guess I can't dock points for strange people residing in this city, so beside that it was a OK place to hang out at.
by Myers D. on I was very surprised by the quality of the atmosphere and food here. I heard 'sports bar' so went in with that expecations. Yes, you can watch sports on big HD screens, but otherwise, this is an upscale dining establishment. Server was great. Really believed in the place and made you care about what you were ordering. Highly recommend the following: - Crab stack. Excellent, healthy, filling app. - Filet with gorgonzola entree... - Scallops with bacon - Snapper... it was all fantastic. But the best was the brownie. I don't care for brownies all that much, but this thing was incredible. We saved mroe than half of it (it is bigger than your head, I promis you) and have been coveting it nightly in small bites ever since. Also, Key Lime pie kicked some serious ass with its twangy lime, good cream top and buttery, gram-crackery crust. Didn't try their burger, but they ranked high in Texas Monthly best burgers... so over all I'd say this place has a LOT going for it. 2 thumbs up
by Weldon Lenort on Finally got myself to Bimbo's for the 1st time, last night to see PETER MURPHY & have to say at 1st blush, I'm a fan But there are rules you must follow People were super nice as we're entering & they made sure to tell us there were no pics whatsoever - even on phones or people would be expelled & their memory cards confiscated.....now *that's* serious business.....but they were nice in the way they told us so we were cool w/ it. Tons of tables, up to the dance floor & I understand sometimes there aren't so many tables & it would have been nice in this case b/c Sis & I stood all the way up front which had its good points & bad Good - duh - we're w/in reaching distance to Peter! Bad - sound is distorted w/ too much bass since we were right up against the speakers; plus when Peter was running all around the stage, there were many times when we couldn't see what he was doing & if anyone notices a theme in my reviews, they'll recognize I'm a stickler for *seeing* the artist One of the bouncers kept coming up to Sis & me throughout the performance to ask if we were placing things on the stage - this is another rule.....no things on the stage. Well, if you had been more observant, you'd have seen we were nowhere near your precious stage & at no time did we place anything on it so STOP asking us Also be prepared to wear flimsy flimsy b/c it was hot as blue blazes in there & this wasn't even a sold-out show Pettiness aside, the show was great, the crowd was really cool & didn't invade our space (i.e., giants didn't step in front but respectfully made sure we could still see) & everyone was enjoying the wonderful Mr Murphy. He was funny, charismatic & a great performer I'd totally come back & now that I know the rules, I'm ready to investigate more of the venue
