by Sonia A. on So my friend asks if I want to check out LIV at the Fontainebleu Resort. It's been renovated recently and I've been dying to check it out. she promised my name + 1 would be on the guest list and all so I agreed to go....The place looks amazing! It's beautiful, modern, luxurious, chic, very Miami Beach! I had NO problem getting in. All I did was mention my friend's, friend's name and my + 1 and I waltzed right in. It hought very cool! As I walk into LIV I take a deep breath and admire the almost empty enormous place! It's very spacious, and we were there at midnight. I thought ok let me get on over to the bar and get a drink, talk to my crew and see where this takes me...As I walk to the bar I see my friend with a drink in her hand, she gives me a look and tells me the drink was $23!!! Wow! Call me whatcha want but I REFUSE to pay that much for ONE drink! I decided, whatever I'll shake my bootie straight, no problem. Within the hour the place starts getting packed! By 1:30, I started feeling like a sardine!! there were so many people there, on a WEDNESDAY night!!! The DJ (?) was very questionable in my opinion, first of all the music was not the best mix. Then the DJ (?) gets on stage with 2 girls and starts waving his hands from side to side but there is no real substance or purpose to his half - ass show. He looked like a cross between Billie Joe (from Green Day) and Boy George!! It was almost pathetic at best! Anyway, my take on LIV is: the place is gorgeous, lots of cute, young crowd, music could be better and drinks are too expensive. If you don't mind paying that much for drinks then you will have a great time. Mind you, I was there on a Wednesday night and it was packed. I can only imagine what the weekends would be like...long wait to try and get picked outside (like cattle). That's not for me! I would go back if #1 my name is on the list again and#2 some drinks are included ; P........
by Lacresha Bajko on My girlfriend and I went here a couple of months ago. We didn't know anything about it when we pulled up, it just looked cool. We go in, take a look at the menus, and are surprised by the reasonable prices for the gourmet burgers ($6-$8). We had a good laugh at ourselves when they brought out the single sliders, and the prices made more sense. Not crazy, but not cheap. They've got some interesting burgers here, but this is not a "have it your way" establishment. You can probably get ingredients removed, but don't try to customize your burger. The waiter discouraged us from doing so, and I reluctantly got a butcher's cut without blue cheese but with the red wine jam, only to find that the "jam" basically served the same function and had the same texture on the finished burger as a reduction. My girlfirend and I also had fun debating about the Cheez-Whiz foam, which apparently tasted fine though on her Philly steak style burger. I felt like I was on Iron Chef and the secret ingredient was Slider. For sides we got the sweet potato tots and the onion rings. The tots were tasty but the consistency didn't quite work, they were pretty large and didn't hold together that well. The onion rings were FANTASTIC and were the standout attraction. I've considered going back for just onion rings and beer but haven't had the chance. The lady got a Krispy Kreme shake, which I expected to taste like a vanilla shake with ground up doughnut in it. I was right. Strangely, the shake and the onion rings made a wonderful pairing, and the onion rings brought out the best in the shake. The Nutella shake and the buttercream shake just sounded like stomach aches waiting to happen so I skipped those. Neat ideas and all, but a very high quality basic shake goes a long way, though I doubt to $7. All in all, the place is worth checking out. Be prepared for a wee, albeit unique burger, and some Chefs Gone Wild mayhem, and you'll be fine. If you're a burger enthusiast, again, be prepared for the weeness of the burger and you can enjoy yourself.
by Nakisha Ploskunak on Mediterranean restaurant by day and lounge with tons of bars by night; Shout is a cool place to go to socialize. As the owners put it, Shout is all about "Food, Fun & Flirting". Located on the corner of 14th and Peachtree at the base of Colony Square, this place gets packed on Friday and Saturday evenings. They even have a DJ spinning. With awesome drinks and appetizers, who needs to go to a club? Shout offers very eclectic and contemporary with seating arrangements that are out of this world. The rooftop lounge almost makes you feel like you're on Miami without the water. You have to go to Shout or at least visit the web site for the full effect. For more information visit http://www.heretoserve...and if your dining for dinner, make a reservation.
