So I went to Aja for the first time 3 months ago for a birthday dinner and I absolutely loved it! I had the Red Snapper which was PHENOMENAL and tried some other things which were very flavorful (as to what I wish I could tell you, it was months ago). My only complaint: the music was just a little too loud for my taste. I don't want to feel like I'm eating dinner in the middle of a nightclub nor do I want to scream across the table to be heard. But overall, food was great, decor was trendy, and the service was awesome!

Leaving Trigger, I was reminded of a butterfly house I visited as a kid. Between the club and sweet freedom lies this little chamber where a bouncer stopped me. I had to wait until the door to the club behind me closed before I could pass through the door to the outside world ahead of me. If I hadn't wound up on the VIP list (friends-of-friends thing, I'm not at all important), gotten to skip the line, and had the cover and my drinks comped, I would have sassed the bouncer about checking for escaping butterflies. I dig the Roy Rogers' horse theme, as evidenced both by the club's name and the horseshoe stamp. That and the sharp-dressed bouncers were the only things I liked about Trigger...well those, and the rippling abs of the go-go dancers. Otherwise, the place is more of an LA club. It is uncomfortably nicer and newer than what I'm accustomed to in the Castro. Is having a little chunk of LA in the Castro such a bad thing? Maybe not. The place is packed on weekends with many a gay waiting in line to pay one of the highest covers in the Castro. These guys are not my type, nor am I theirs. It would logically follow that Trigger serves the purpose of pulling these guys out of the clubs I do enjoy, thus getting them out of my way when I need to get my cruise on. I have no empirical data to support this, but it makes sense to me. I find it laughable that any place in the Castro has a VIP area, but it makes sense that Trigger has one and the Edge and the Mix do not. This place isn't for me, but I have friends who like it. I wish it every success, but probably won't be back.

Go here? : If you work or live in the neighborhood and your Louboutin's are pinching too much to walk. I give the Park 1 Star just for being the closest non-smelly establishment to my office. 2 Star because they let us basically take over the bar area every time someone leaves the company, or has a birthday. 3rd Star is because they have an outside and an inside.
