Trudy's is one of my all-time favorite Tex-Mex restaurants in Austin. It has become a tradition in my group of friends and we are FREQUENT guests on Mex-Mart Mondays and Top-Shelf Tuesdays! (Can you tell I like their Mexican Martinis just a little bit?) Other favorite dishes of mine are: Stuffed Avocado! What is better than a deep-fried avocado stuffed with chicken and cheese and covered in queso? Not exactly diet-friendly, but it is absolutely heavenly. Veggie Tacos! More avocado with black beans and cheese, served with rice and more beans. For all the taco dishes, you can order just one taco (instead of the standard of two) for a cheaper, lighter dish. Quesadillas! Any of them. They are all delicious and make great leftovers the next day. The only reason that I gave this restaurant 4 stars instead of 5 is that they are SUPER busy, especially on the weekends. Because the hostesses won't seat incomplete parties, the wait can be ridiculous (over an hour sometimes). I guess it makes sense since Austin is a busy, college town, but that is one policy of theirs that I could do without (especially if you are just missing one person in your party). Go to Trudy's today! You won't be disappointed!

This was easily the trashiest W I've ever stayed in.  If you're on a tight budget I think it might be excuseable to stay here, however if you're traveling for work then you have no excuse.  If I pull up to a W, I expect to see two ripped guys in tight white t-shirts offering to park my car and take my bags and basically have a permanent "I work at the W so I'm cooler than you are b**ch" attitude so much that it makes me want to go to the gym for a couple of weeks and then punch them in the face.  The people at the Perimeter didn't have any of this attitude that the W sells and the girl behind the counter seemed semi incompetent (maybe she was new though or just ill trained) It was obviously not built as a W.  the layout and lighting doesn't match the look and feel of others.  The rooms have dingy kitchens in them too!  I assume this is a converted Days Inn or Residence Inn or something.  Then again, the W Lake Shore in Chicago is a converted Days Inn I believe and that turned out just fine.  How did these guys mess up the conversion? Overall the W brand is a good one, but it needs to be thoroughly applied to a hotel in order to work.  The W Perimeter just doesn't pull that off.  It makes it seem a bit cheesy actually.

The reviews of the decor and ambiance at Jake's Dilemma are all accurate, but noone's posted the really helpful information, IMHO: a breakdown of the drink specials! So without further ado: - Tuesday night special: 2-for-1 drafts - Wednesday night special: Ladies Night ($2 American drafts or $3 well drinks) - Thursday night special: pitcher of shots for $10 ...and I can't remember the rest, but if anyone wants to remind me (Monday was some sort of Happy Hour...?), I'll gladly edit my review...just trying to do the world a service. Also: the music was awesome for this kind of bar--definitely aiming at my generation (a mix of Beck, Presidents of the United States of America, Bush, etc...) p.s.: if you're the guy who was wearing the shirt that said "Beer Drinkers Get More Head" last night...for shame. (And if you weren't that guy but you are a guy: please, don't *ever* be that guy.) pps: this is not actually a cool bar. But it succeeds at being what it is, which is a crappy bar (as other reviewers have noted). Hence, the four stars...
