Came here for UFC 109. They charged a cover of $15...not too bad. They were really cool about not pushing drinks on us every 5 minutes. I really liked the vibe of the place. I can tell that this is a great pub. Majority of the crowd were cool people. But it only takes one guy to ruin a night. And that guy is apparently a regular at abbey tavern. Every 10 minutes, he felt the need to scream at the top of his lungs at the tv and jump out of his seat and pantomime like he is fighting someone....in the center of the bar. It was just too much...really distracting, annoying, and immature. Thing is...while I really liked the joint, I actually don't think I will come back for future UFC events. I could really like this bar...but I think I need to visit on a non UFC PPV event night to confirm that.

I used to go to clubs quite a bit, usually to Compound and then The Velvet Room. I never made it to eleven50, but finally made it to Opera. In my opinion, this is the club to go to in Atlanta. The interior is beautiful and they give you real options in regards to how you want to waste your money on a weekend night. You can dance in the main room, chill out on the deck or (gasp) salsa dance in the back?! I don't know what the hell it is about bathrooms in clubs, but of course there are not enough. Clubs could make so much more money if the would get any kind of handle on the intake and outtake economics. How can we make more money if people can't get to the bar to order drinks? How can we make more money if people spend most of their night standing in line to pee? Questions for the ages, but they all do it and this one is no different... thus the 4 stars. Better than the rest, but still not good enough. In sum... you want to get all gussied up and go pretend you're a VIP and hot stuff? Just take a wad of spendin' cash and head to Opera. Tip: If you're on a so-called "VIP Guest List," let me make this clear... you are not only below VIP, you are below average-customer status because you are not paying to get in. Get there by 10 or you'll just stand in line only to have them say "sorry - we close this line at 11, now hand over $20 to get in."
