by Ginger R. on I went to the Supperclub for the first time this last Wednesday. The food was actually really enjoyable, and I prefer small, delicious portions to enormous, bland piles. The fish, green beans and risotto were so tasty--very lemony and flavorful. The beds are really unique and fun. Originally, I was skeptical of the whole set-up, but the staff and entertainment made the "strangeness" of the place well worth it. There was a poetry-reading, trapeze artist the night I was there--very edgy and talented. The hostess was gorgeous and the staff were attentive and seemed to go out of their way to make us all feel like we were in on something. Our bill was actually reasonable given the calibre of the food, entertainment, ambiance and overall attentiveness of the staff and artists. On a side note: it's nice when everyone who works at this place is attractive to look at! So, thanks Supper club for being a fun, unique, edgy and at the same time FRIENDLY/FLIRTY place to spend a Wednesday evening. I felt like I was at a supper chic circus hot house! :)
by Janine Hosten on I had to perform some massive pizza surgery when I got home. A little too much cheese, way too much oil. Lots of paper towels were sacrificed in the procedure. Don't worry Gavin, I composted. But I don't fault 222 - they made it up just as the menu board promised. And when I could choose between two good looking pies (the 222 with pears and walnuts and a standard margherita), the friendly bartender offered to make one half and half. I appreciated that. So not exactly a healthy ratecluber's preferred destination for pizza, but still plenty to like.
by Alleen Brasch on I like this place during the day for happy our not at night and the reasons being... 1. Expensive drinks in plastic cups and cover charges that are not consistent. 2.Horrible go-go dancers with no dance skills. 3. Bartenders cannot make drinks and they are slow as hell. They also seem to be very stupid because I have been short changed many times. 4. The place is filled with young queens who think they are divas but fold shirts at the GAP and older men who are trying to relive their prime from the 90's by trying to pick up younger guys. 5. NO DIVERSITY!!!! Typical of the Castro, If you are a minority who only like white and Asian men then this is the pace for you. Again, I try to avoid this place at night. When friends say they wanna go I cringe hard but go and try to have fun...BUT with an exit plan to get out quick.
