In case you're wondering, yes, Avenue is where Earth used to be. Right next to the Park. Don't get your lines confused. There were plenty of people who meant to go to the Park and ended up in the line for Avenue. Recommend going with lots of girls if you're a guy and if you're a girl, going with another gal pal will get you past the velvet ropes much faster. Either that or you buy bottle service. The space inside is huge and cavernous, and despite the sticky floors, the place is well ventilated, not too pushy and has good music!! Um- but drinks are EXPENSIVE! You should def. pre-party before coming here. Bathrooms are clean, which is awesome. Also, there is always a bouncer on the main level to ensure no crazy drunken foolishness erupts into trouble. Fun place, but I still prefer the more low key, low maintenance scene.

Finally, a club that doesn't try to cram everybody into a room smaller than a jail cell! Oh wait, you mean they also play a variety of songs and hire good DJs? Hold up, I'm trying to take this all in. After all, Atlanta kind of sucks when it comes to great resident DJs, and is even worse in the club department. What? There are multiple locations to snag a beer or a shot? All right, Compound... you win. It's not always open (from what I can tell) but the Halloween party here is a blast. TONS of people, yet there's so much room to walk around in that you never feel pushed around. The dance floors can become a little packed in, but you never feel like that guy behind you is up on your junk trying to cop a feel - he's too busy dancing in his own space! The drinks are a little strong but good. A great club when it's open, but I'm a little sad this isn't open all the time. I might actually go out dancing a little more often!

I have been going to mjq for a few years now and its really worn out its cool image nowadays. I use to religiously go there every wednesday night with all of my friends and get trashed and dance and stumble home muttering "best....night....ever!" But then i realized i was only having fun cause i was HAMMERED! I went on the wagon and discovered that it is now, mostly, an overhyped playground for hipster douchebags. Too much attitude and not enough good music. Its a blast if you are too drunk to see...so i guess that gives it 2 stars? On a side note....the drunken unicorn still puts on amazing shows with great bands. I am just over the dance party. I guess im just getting old?
