by Lisa C. on To celebrate my 200th review AND my Bachelorette Party weekend, I give you: WEBSTER HALL! In the 12+ years that I lived in NYC, I only went to Webster Hall on very rare occassions. Now that I've lived in Boston for a year, I've come to miss places like Webster with their myriad rooms and staircases and odd placements of VIP areas. We arrived around 1AM (my friends from Boston thought I was crazy, I mean, we can't arrive at 1 in Boston when clubs close at 2) and found zero lines for those who paid the preadmission. Getting through the door, past security and into the club was super swift. Once inside, it was impossible to not sweat. Did the AC break down? Are they trying to save money by not using it? I have no idea. All I know is that within five minutes of dancing in my high ass heels and fending off other sweaty beasts (errr sorry, I mean men), I was ready for some AC and a beverage. The music was awesome with the exception of hearing the same song repeated at least three times in two different rooms within a 4-hour span. The people? Uhm......... I made it clear to people that although there was not a Bride to Be sash and/or an obnoxious tiara on, that I was indeed celebrating at my bachelorette party. This seemed to mean nothing to guys who would then continue attempting to put their hand up my dress or grabbing my boobs. I can fend for myself, but still, have a little respect. I thought the Circus Saturday vibe was a lot of fun - the burlesque bit, the little people Elvis impersonator, the go-go dancer clowns, the person dressed like a big happy face (what WAS that?!?!?) and the aerial performers. That alone made it worth the price of admission.
by Louis L. on From the moment I walked in here, I hoped...no I prayed...that Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas would roll up in a white Testarossa or bust through the walls in a Chris Craft Stringer 309. If they did, I would have thought this place was OKAY. They didn't, so it sucks. Why is everyone in this town trying to be someone they're not?
