I won a free bottle service through their rateclub contest, and went this past Friday night with 4 friends. Nice club/bar with a good DJ and friendly/professional staff. My friends and I have never really had bottle service ourselves but our experience made everyone bottle service converts. The host and our server were great. The club was pretty crowded when we arrived and seemed like a good mix of people. We were seated upstairs which was a good sized room and good view of the dancefloor. People were dancing and the DJ played a good mix of house and hip hop. Will return!

So I hitup this place during the Halloween bash per my girl's request. We'd just been the empty 740 the night before, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect here. There's lot of parking around this place for about $5, and you can park immediately across for $10. Your call, but the area is decently lit and isn't back-alley creepy (it's right on Spring St.). From the getgo, there was a line outside, but not too long at all. I waited less than 5 minutes while my SO and I chatted up and about the other patrons. There were a few crazy costumes (9ft tall alien in stacked platforms!), but the line was so quick to move that we didn't notice much else. The entrance fee was $20 (apparently for the special night), After a quick pat down (I was in my monkey suit), I paid the man and skipped the coat check (no thanks!). The entrance fee was exchanged for a pair of tickets, which in turn yielded no stamp or band (so no in-n-outs). Right away, about 10:30pm, the place was bumpin' and packed. We stepped into the main room, which had a large and full bar against the wall (parallel to the street) that faced slightly terraced dance floors. There were tables in the immediate bar area (with no space to sit), and several more surrounding the main dance floor. A latin band (playing salsa) was already grooving right on stage. To the left of the main dance floor, there was another bar serving thirsty patrons. I walked around a bit, getting familiar with the setting, and decided to check out the 2nd floor.... which was PACKED! They were playing reggaeton and latin hip hop, or what have you. This 2nd floor was narrow as F* (about 12ft across, at most). The space didn't span more than 50ft, and at the center of the place was a DJ spinning, on his laptop... I was quickly in the mood, and began my way into the sweaty pit with my SO and danced for about 1 hr. Afterwards, we cut across the other end, picked up some water at the 2nd floor's bar (a tiny outpost), and ascended the steps to the 3rd floor. The 3rd floor was terraced seating, and as I've read that the Mayan was a music venue, showcased a good view of the main stage. You could see the main DJ working the lights and videos, while the live band played. We cooled off here for about 30 minutes (monkey suits are hot) and checked back in to the 2nd floor for a bit, then back down to the main stage to watch the costume contest (should have stayed on 3rd floor for a better view). As some ladies have mentioned, and as I later heard from my girlfriend, a few of the guys here are just rude. Some fool apparently tugged at my girl's hair. Didn't hear about any groping, but wtf hair tugging guy? I'm supposing this is just a matter of a crowded area where people feel they can get away with it, because I've been pinched in the bum jam packed places too. Anyway we danced to some salsa, bachata, and a bit of hiphop on the main floor. This is really a better area to dance, but some are a bit more aggressive about the space, and so might not be for the timid. Lots of guys just standing around watching though... Finally, we descended down to the sublevel, where they had some old school hip hop and R&B playing. The room was small (20x30 maybe) with a bar at one end and a projection screen on the opposing wall. I definitely liked the music more, along with the 2nd floor, but that's just me. After about 30 minutes here, it was time to jet. Overall, I plan on heading out to the place again, but on a night ther than Saturday. I'd like some more space to move and groove, and figured the wallflower thing was typical of clubs. The design was good, mix of music good, and drinks decently priced.

Wow, I went with such high expectations but was a tiny bit disappointed. The space doesn't necessarily look like all the beautiful pictures online. For instance, all that back-lighting around the bar and Chinese warrior statues were not there, I barely recognized the bar based off the pics! The bar was designated about 20% of the huge space Buddha Bar is. So waiting in line (unless you're willing to drop your Amex for bottle service) isn't really a great option for girls who just want to lounge and chill for a couple of drinks. Never mind trying to get in with a huge group ( I overhead some gals saying they had waited for 30 mins..crazy)....table service would be the only way to go. That all being said, bartenders were quick and awesome, 20% is tacked onto your bill but oh well. DJ was good. People are really awesome and attractive and the bar is lively with people drinking and dancing. Basically the thing that seperates Buddha bar from the rest is it's crowd and music.
