by David B. on The Varsity is an Atlanta landmark, known far and wide for their sideshow food-fare, but if you're expecting a quality hot dog and fries, you'd be better off making them at home. This place is pricey, especially for the lackluster quality they put out, and it's just plain bad chili. My father called them, heart-attack-in-a-bag, and in fact it was the last thing he had for lunch the day he had a heart attack that put him in a coma for three days and destroyed his short term memory completely. It's not the Varsity's fault, certainly, but it's the kind of food that doesn't lend itself to healthy living. All this being said, if you enjoy fast-food, you will love the Varsity. That's all it is.
by Leonard Figueras on This is a happening spot... The bar alone was completely packed. The type of pack where you felt like a sardine. Guess it didn't help that I went on Valentine's day. But none the less I had big expectations for this place. I did not think anything could top the VIP lounge in Vegas and I am right . But I will give this place props since there just is not as much space in NYC. The decor was great and I really liked how they mixed modern with very traditional Asian. Foodwise I would highly recommend the sea bass either the appetizer or the entree. I am also told the Black Pepper Sizzled Filet Mignon in udon noodles is spectacular. I would definitely say if you are adventurous go for the mochi dessert.. it is one of my favorite desserts and it is pretty unique. This is probably only the second restaurant I have seen with mochi on their menu. Although mochi is easily found in any Asian grocery store. Lastly I would say that the martinis are divine. Try the Lychee Martini. That maybe a perfect girls night out spot = fun martinis + sea bass appetizer + excellent people watching. Who can beat that?
