What a venue - art gallery, dance club, bar!  Everything you could want in one place.  Tuesday's are the best night to go, but most nights here are good though on Friday/Saturday nights I am reminded that my best club days are, ahem, slightly behind me... The drinks are strong, the space is dynamic, and, while it's occasionally a bit too hot (especially after a few consecutive dances), it has never disappointed.

Where's my butt??? Oh, I danced it off at Bootie this weekend! I'm kinda entering that "post-gay" period of my life where I've gotten really bored of going to all-gay stuff. Instead, when I do go out (which isn't anywhere near as often as in the past), I'm starting to look for mixed venues. One such is Bootie. I didn't really know what to expect. I was just told that they played decent mash-ups. Feeling a little club-jaded these days, I didn't think I would like it that much. I was wrong. I had a blast, and danced and danced and danced. The space is great too. It was my first time at DNA Lounge. They have two dance areas and an eating area. I guess they serve food too. The main dance floor is big with a stage and all-around upper mezzanine. the back dance floor is smaller and more... um.. intimate I guess. But not intimate in a typically SOMA way, a-la Powerhouse or anything like that. For those that don't know what that means, don't ask questions you really don't want to know the answer to. (on a side note) Ever wonder what it would be like if, on any given Saturday night, the roofs of all the buildings in SOMA  were peeled away? And you could fly around and watch? Interesting indeed. (interlude over) Finding places with mixed crowds can be a little tricky sometimes. I often find a lot of the straight guys at places like Ruby Skye (on the events there that are somewhat mixed) to be complete dicks. Everyone shoves and steps on you, and nobody says excuse me. No wonder fights happen. So where I'm going with this is that the crowd at Bootie all seemed to be there to have a good time. Mixed gay and straight. Everyone wanted to dance and have fun that I saw. People smiled and were nice to each other. That's what a night out should be. Where else can you go somewhere and dance to AC/DC (mixed with Erasure) and feel cool? This club rocks.

The decor was great-we didn't come to eat just to hang out at the bar on a Wed evening after we waited to get into Tenjune across the street. There were a lot of people in there... We had fun-if you're a smoker you don't even have to go outside. They have a little chamber in the middle of the restaurant which is nice in the winter...
