(Groovin' I don't wanna stop)." For the love of house music, "we go Deep." Sunday night, feeling good and wanting to just groove, our newly found interest in house music led us to Deep at Vanguard. We got there before 11PM and paid the $10 discounted cover (sometimes $5 according to the Ticket Lady). With our comfortable sneakers on and bust-a-move fits, we were ready to dance. Such a crazy mix that this club draws, from the droves of older uncles and aunties to the professional regulars. It just goes to show you how much house music affects everyone in their own way. Lovin' the melodic/lounge house music, the interesting chameleon-colored, flashing "Deep" sign in the background, the spacious patio outside for fresh air and most importantly, the unpretentious crowd truly there for the music. So in the tune of Ms. Janet Jackson's song, "[Deep's] got me movin. DJ groovin' I feel way right." P.S. - Make sure you leave your cameras at home because there are no cameras allowed in the club. Casual gear (sneakers, etc.) is ok. On a Sunday night, when usually the streets aren't as packed, try parking on the nearby streets to save ya some $. And oh yes, it is still Hollywood, so drinks are still going to be up there.
by Ashley H. on If we are talking strictly atmosphere and fun place to party, this is the place to go. The drink menu is pretty decent and usually are tasty, though there are some drinks that just taste straight up like cough medicine. (They are also priced incredibly high) However, if we are talking about food, I have to say, it is over-rated. My boyfriend and I love mac and cheese, and love lobster mac and cheese even more. When we ordered it here, we found pieces of lobster shell in the dish. Enough said. (It wasn't cheap either)
by Jin Conkey on Very very elegantly thought out exclusive bar, decorated to look like an affluent Frenchman's courtyard upon entrance. Upon further exploration of the venue, further French influences are discovered such as the chairs, tables, and other decorations. Everything appears to be vintage, and the crowd is definitely pretty, with more females than males. There is an outside bar in the patio area, and another bar further in. Both appear to be busy and luckily, we know the vip host who orders our drinks for us, complimentary of course. Loud rap, hip hop, and r&b reverberate throughout thespace and one can't help but to gyrate to the beats. Happening new spot. I'd definitely visit in the future!
