I went to Wonderland last night and was thoroughly disappointed. The crowd was the ugliest I've seen in Hollywood and no one in there had a real job, the decor was disappointing and the servers were rude and looked drugged out. It is a meeting place for trailer trash. To top it off the doorman Steve Harlow is a complete ASSHOLE. The owner should fire him before he gets sued. That was a Friday night that I can never get back. Don't waste your time.

First, I would like to say, I'm not a sushi fan, so it was very impressive that I enjoyed the food and loved the ambiance. It's very eclectic and futuristic. The texture and flavoring were amazing, highly recommend everyone to try their food. If not, you at least have to check out the decoration.

I moved to SF just after The Mab shut down in 1987, which was a drag, because I had read about it in magazines, plus heard the many wild stories from SF peeps after I got here. Still, there were other places on Broadway to hang, like the Stone, On Broadway, Morty's and the like, so I didn't suffer too much. But I did wish I had gotten to see a show there at least once to say I had checked it out. Flash forward 20 years (has it really been that long?) and amazingly, the old joint has been reconstituted, with new interior, stage, lights, sound and the whole bit. Since I don't have a personal experience to compare the old with the new, I can only guess that it got a good sprucing up since its original incarnation. Nonetheless, it's good to have another place to hang out, especially since my old pals Tambre and Tonus are handling the duties of running the joint. Reality Check TV staged a showcase there recently, with The Lewd, White Trash Debutantes and a couple other acts, which went pretty well, but a week or so afterwards, we were back for a show with RCTV creator Huge's band project, King 'o' Meat (see http://www.myspace.com...)--which didn't do as well. Despite a slab of meaty, beaty, big and bouncy tunes that are filled with puns 'o' plenty about --what else--meat, the King and several other bands, including my roomate Marlon's band, Roase, didn't have many kids in the house when I showed up to catch the end of the show. Too bad, actually. Everyone who missed it made--dare I say it--a big mis-steak. (Sorry, couldn't resist). In any event, the place looks pretty good. It's apparently all redone, so everything is pretty new and spiffy-looking. I must say, though, that whomever decided to make a stage where two big ol' poles are stationed practically right in the middle may have erred. That being said, I did enjoy hanging out, seeing T&T, and even meeting a fan of the show from out of town, who has seen the Metallica Documentary DVD I'm on with my RC co-host Danny, called 'Dark Souls'. All in all, I'm glad I finally got to chill at this legendary venue, and hopefully, we'll be able to enjoy it for many years to come...
