by Norma Luckenbaugh on The worst place in the city!!! Don't bother going there, its not like the old Buddha Bar.. The waiters are not nice, we made reservation for a large party, we had to call 8 people to confirm the reservation. Then when we got to the place, nobody was even aware that we made reservation. The optional party dinner was horrible, there was no way there were enough food for all 30 people that where there. My advice avoid this place.
by Greg B. on The best thing about this iconic nightclub is the outstanding view from the dance floor! Overlooking Union Square while dancing to a live band early in the evening and continuing on with DJ is a blast. The Starlight definitely offers a refreshingly different experience from the countless typical Top-40 clubs throughout the city. The crowd is completely mixed, middle aged to to late 20's, and a nice mix of ethnicities. Plenty of tables for groups or couples to relax between songs is a bonus. There's just a classy and classic feel to this nightclub I would recommend anyone of any (legal) age to check out, especially if your looking at breaking away from the typical club scene.
by Signe Ligman on Let's be real here for a minute: There are a lot of two-bit halfway decent just okay music halls in this fine land. How refreshing then is it that San Francisco is lucky enough to have a Great one. I DO SAY! This Great American Music Hall features glimmery, shiny chandeliers, gilded mirrors, finely engraved wood paneling, & one helluva concert calendar. On any given month, they'll host at least two shows I've got major interest in going to see. And everytime I go, I leave thinking the same thing: The Kids Are Alright. They're dancing, they're sweating, sometimes they're drunkenly pointing & staggering around shouting "WOOOO!" at the top of their lungs, but of all the venues in town, I've found that GAMH always attracts the most energetic crowds. I'd hesitate to call it my FAVORITE music hall/concert venue in the city (such a LOADED QUESTION), but it's on the short list, that's for sure.
