Searching for some popular local ice cream, we were initially looking for a place that sold Blue Bell by the scoop instead of a tub at the local supermarkets, but were informed about this Austin institution. Like Cold Stone Creamery, at Amy's you can get your ice cream mixed in with "crushin's," a plethora of different items including cookies, candy bars, cereal, fruit, etc. I ordered the cookie monster which came with Mexican vanilla ice cream and oreos and cookie dough mixed in. It was a delightful treat and the Mexican vanilla flavored ice cream was a very good and unique vanilla flavor. I also sampled some of the bourbon flavored ice cream which definitely had a kick to it and had a discernible alcohol flavor. Hope they card kids when they ask for this flavor.

I love mezzanine. I've been here many times for tons of shows including Chromeo, M83, Nas, Snoop Dogg, Clipse..just to name a few as well as many parties. The venue is a good size and everytime I go I usually have a great time. Two things that bug me. When I went to Chromeo, there was a giant line that combined will call tickets & if u wanted to buy at the door. I stood in line for over an hour. WITH WILL CALL. It was freezing cold, the line ran all the way down Jessie St...ridiculous. Even after tickets at the door sold out, many of us were still standing for a good 45min just to get in with WILL CALL. Another thing is the drinks are crazy overpriced. But Oh well. I still love you Mez.

We went for date night and thoroughly enjoyed our evening.  The restaurant is a modest size with dark features, hip but cozy.  The menu is interesting and the prices were great- all under $20.  The empanadas were simple and delicious, my gumbo was flavorful and my husband's lamp chops were superb- cooked perfectly.  Not sure if I'll order the gumbo again, but it was good.  For dessert we shared the apple cobbler a la mode and it was YUMMY!
