If I had a go to bar it would certainly be The Local.  I've been going to The Local since 2003, maybe?  What started out as a weekly trivia relationship turned into a two to three times a week thing at one point!  I haven't been going as regularly lately as I would like, though! My two fave waitresses- Colleen and Danielle are no longer there which makes me sad but Steve is pretty awesome.  I like that they know my order before I even say it- that's cool.  The margaritas are pretty good and I enjoy the BBQ Bird sandwich though the chicken fingers, while being nothing special are my other usual choice.  Tots are a good choice as are the ribs and hushpuppies.  If you get the nachos be prepared for a ton of nachos!!! If you smoke you'll need to get your cigs from the machine here and if you need a chocolate fix you can't get it at The Local.  But you can get some decent to good food and drinks at a really good price.  And some popcorn from the popper next to the weird new jukebox. If you go on a Wednesday night be prepared for a pretty packed place for 8pm trivia and then the MJQ pre party drifts in towards the end of trivia which can be a bit annoying due to the self admiration of cool that many exhibit.  You know, the too cool for school folks who haven't figured out that wearing those awesome heels to MJQ is not a good idea and guys who really liked that no longer obscure band way back in the day.  Friday nights are pretty good for hanging out with friends and enjoying a drink. Overall it's a great bar without the pretensions (at least by the staff and the regular crowd that comes any night and not just before certain MJQ nights).  The service is excellent, and it's just a good spot.  Oh and if you need a split check you can totally get one without a hassle.

this place is a-ok with me. fun in fact. loungey, swizzanky, small, but not too small. its one large rectangular space, but they did a good job of dividing it up. encourages friendly mingling and also pockets of dance floor to soak up. i guess there are 2bars...i kept with the one at the door. however, vodka tonic wasnt strong enough, they RAN OUT of every single beer but Heineken by the end of the nite {i know it was their first official wknd being open, but come on}, and at certain points there was only ONE bartender trying to keep up with the demand. waiting sucks! music fluctuated from GREAT to just top40 mash-up meh-ness. all in all, i will definitely be back. mazal tov MWest!

I had a blast at Jillian's nightclub. I experienced an upbeat and positive vibe, the music was good, the dance floor is huge.
