This place is swank. I went here dressed to the 9s and had two drinks: The 19th Century which was a fruity drink made with the Edison's own Bourbon, and a Hendricks Gin Martini with a lemon twist. Both drinks were superb. When I came in the door guy was very friendly and polite. He checked my ID and based on the ID said, "Welcome, Jim." That is all class when he did that. You then walk down the stairs to something that feels somewhere between the 1920s jazz scene and a steam punk novel. When you sit down anywhere the seats are soft and cushy. I am very much looking forward to when I have dinner here.

Terraza 7 Train is a laid-back boho bar, just south of Roosevelt Ave, under the ever-atmospheric 7 Train tracks. While the clientele is largely Hispanic, the vibe is welcoming to all types of people. The pictures of Che Guevara and the funky décor give it a renegade character, while the artsy types who flock here (many Spanish speakers) transport a newcomer to a scene that is probably more akin to a trendy café/bar in Mexico City or Buenos Aires than an otherwise gritty part of Queens. Is Terraza the best bar to strike a chord with the artsy crowd east of Queens Plaza? Probably. Is it worth the trip from Manhattan or the other Boroughs? Depends on your level of adventure. What Terraza remains is a nice and friendly safe-haven in an otherwise chaotic stretch of peso bars and gay/strip nightclubs on Roosevelt Ave. If you are lucky, try to come on one of the nights where Terraza is featuring live music. Just don't sit too close to the stage (which is elevated on the rafters above the main bar). The place gets pretty loud - so loud that it even drowns out the rumbling of the near-by 7 Train. Quite an accomplishment! Added benefit: Terraza is literally on the same block as the mind-blowing Jackson Heights taco truck, Tacos Guicho. Combine the two for an amazing night out in the Boroughs.

clermont lounge is one of the most...unique....places i've ever been. i don't know if there's really any other way to describe it. i mean, where else can you find an array of 40+ strippers getting completely nude and crushing, um, various things with, um, various body parts. i love the set up, with the bar centered around the stage and pole, so that getting drunk while you're enjoying the strip show (which may be a necessity for some...) is easy, without the need to go back and forth or deal with the often neglectful cocktail waitresses. i also appreciate that, as if the bar and the plethora of strippers weren't enough, clermont gives you the option to entertain yourself on tuesdays with karaoke. surprisingly, their regulars consist of more than just the drunken off-key crooners, but there are some drunk people there that can actually sing! overall, the atmosphere of this place is great, and i would definitely recommend the experience to anyone of legal age, regardless of whether or not they'll actually enjoy it. it's just an experience that shouldn't be missed...
