by Vineet T. on A couple of friends and me went here on a Thursday night. The place is sort of small. They did not open their back room till about 11PM at which point it was impossible to move about the place. The DJ was spinning some sort of electronic/dance music that nobody cared for because nobody was dancing! A request for a famous song was met with "I have never heard of this before" at which point I knew he was totally BS'ing with me. Thank the heavens he started playing more mainstream/hip hop music later on in the night, we still ended up leaving around 1AM because we were simply not having any fun. Funny thing the next day, I get a call from my banks fraud detection team saying that Infusion lounge tried to charge your card 2500 dollars at 2:03AM last night. Wow really? Some a hole tried to rip me off by stealing my card info. Least to say, this club is shady and I will not be returning.
by Hortensia Polowy on I had heard that this place was pretentious, and I did kind of get that vibe there, although I went at brunch-time, not prime, Friday night craziness in Olde City time. The place was pretty much empty on a Sunday afternoon, even though they were about to turn on the Eagles game (on a projection screen on the wall... thumbs down.. the place isn't set up right for that). I don't know.. when a place like that says that they'll have the Eagles game on, it kind of seems like a trick. Like they're trying to draw in people who would never go in there and then -BAM- present them with an over-the-top bill, when all they got was a few beers. Maybe it's just me that feels this way, but the name and gimmick of National Mechanics seems sort of low-brow, but they present the bar and the staff and the menu as high-brow. Tricky. The bottom line is: I don't care for $6 half-pint bloody mary's, but the bathroom was clean.
by Rosalinda Niemela on one of the worst dining experiences i have had in 28 years of living in san francisco. 15 minutes after we sat down no one had greeted us or brought menus. 10 minutes after we get menus the server brings water and walks away not asking us if we are ready to order. after being there for more than half an hour she thinks maybe it's time to take our order. our beers had crumbs or sediment or some thing in it (nasty) and they brought the wrong beers (i know the difference between an ipa and a lager). when our food came out it was totally wrong. we wanted all the veggie stuff and all the meat stuff so we ordered the veggie combo plate and the meat combo plate. instead of our veggie plate she brought out 3 orders of boiled potatoes and 3 orders of collard greens.(i love greens but 3 orders for 2 people? really?)i would have complained or sent my food back but i couldn't find the waitress. 40 minutes later, cold food sitting in front of us, no beer in hand, (order bottled beer if you must prove to your self how bad this place is) upset, and frustrated, we calculated how much the bill should be (minus the veggie plate) left cash on the table with a nice little note and left. the meat plate was decent but there is way better ethiopian food to be found in this beautiful city of ours. don't waist your time, money or stomach space on this place. happy dining!
