I rarely write reviews, let alone bad ones. It is unfortunate I have to write one like this for Ruby Skye. I have been frequenting this club for a year and the DJs have been great. The music is never bad although on off nights sometimes not excellent. Overall I've heard some amazing DJs here. The reasons for the bad review is the condescending downright rude attitude to the staff. Everyone from the bouncers, to cashiers, to ticket staff are all on a major power trip. They insult your intelligence, personality anything at no provocation, and if you are a woman the power trip exponentially increases. The worse was a female bouncer coming to me at the VIP lounge telling me with a smirk to get a hotel room if I want to sleep when I was simply having a conversation with a friend. Out of respect for my friend's time and mood I didn't want to create a situation but this provoked even someone as prone to let things pass as me to call the management the next day. After extremely long wait times the VIP handler told me she has a busy day and asked me to hold again. At a third call answered by a new handler I was told management is available on nights the club is open at 7pm. I shall be calling then simply because I think this club has a lot to offer and hate to have to give it a one star and stop going there. If they act responsibly I shall come back and change my review. If not this review stands. If you want go to the club for great music but have your thick skin on for highly obnoxious staff behavior. And whatever you do don't take your out of town guests there. It will leave a bad taste in their mouth for San Francisco.

For those of you who remember, this used to be a pretentious italian bistro with some italian name I can't remember. I believe this place is owned by the same people who do El Chile and El Chilito (the chili and the little chili, for those who don't habla espanol), who are purveyors of fine mexican food, and apparently really good pizza too. After a few rousing games of the new call of Duty, 5 friends and I decide we are famished and need either sushi or pizza. I mention that we are famished, so we decide to go with pizza. We sit down at red house and hastily order two pitchers of beer, the Goat Cheese and Chicken pizza and the housemade sausage pizza, both of which come with roasted red bells. 15 minutes later we get our pizza, almost perfectly timed after we finish the first pitcher and they were delicious. Contrary to popular prediction, the sausage pizza was better, proving that in all instances the goat cheese doesn't win. However, both pizzas were very good. We all had approx. 3 large slices of thin crust pizza, were all satisfied and spent approx. $12 apiece for two beers and 3 slices of pizza. Pretty great value if you have a few people to go out with you. I know that's not that simple so.....

Very crowded both times I've been here, not so much because its that much of a great club, more so because its too small! The setting just throws you off. Once you walk in you're faced with the crowd waiting in line at the bar. There's ample space to walk through between the bar and the private tables. The dancefloor fits about 50 people. The crowd is usually a mixture between young Asian Americans and middle-aged Middle Eastern Americans. If this place were remodeled to create more space, it would be a good place to have a few drinks, dance, and maybe, and that's a big maybe, meet some decent people.
