Avenue, oh avenue why did it take me so long to get to you. You're right next to Oak. Went on a Saturday and walked in with 7 girls and 1 guy. The guy was a problem even though we were going as the owner's guests. So if you don't know someone or aren't buying a table, ditch the guys. Music was great. Get a table and some bottles and it is fun. Although the owner was struggling with a bottle of champagne and I had to open it for him, but I did get my drink refilled first. Only complaint -  bathroom line was obscene!! Like 2 bathrooms for all the people that are there!! Other than that great place.

I love the speakeasy-ness of this place. You descend into the red and wood-ness of it all (Yeah, I said, "wood-ness.) The proximity to all sorts of other dining and bars in the neighborhood is nice. Does anyone spend all night at the same place anyway? I'm happy to report that the ladies room is nice. At least two stalls and it's own little hallway so you're not forming some ridiculous queue outside the door. You also don't feel too crowded in there. Just remember to mind the stairs on the way in and out.

Totally the institution of  the NYC jazz scene and a place all jazz enthusiasts must visit.  The famous jazz greats all flock here to play sets to tourists and music aficionados alike.  The cool and cozy dark decor is the perfect environment to sip an alcoholic bebida while bopping your head along to the tunes. An eclectic drink menu promises to please your alcohol pallet and make a dent in your wallet.  The food is underwhelming and over priced for what you get, but no one comes here for the culinary experience.  You come here for the music.  I wish the sets could be longer.  After an hour and fifteen minutes, folks are just getting warmed up, but you're getting the last call warning and your tab.  And after dropping $30 on the music that's just slightly annoying.  So I will have to return for the Friday and Saturday post-midnight amateur nights which sound awesome and like the bargain of the century.
