by Audrie Hibma on We went for the Tuesday night special. I can't believe it took me so long to take advantage of unlimited domestic beer or house wine and giant bottomless bowls of fried chicken for $18 per person. We got there around 6 and had to sit at the bar, which wasn't ideal but the place was packed and no one was getting up til 8 pm when the special was over. The fried chicken was hot and fresh, but not a feat of culinary genius. The sauce they brought for dipping tasted like jazzed up ketchup, so I could have gone for a little more flavor with the chicken. The sticky rice cakes they brought... I was the only one in my group who ventured to eat it, and I have no idea what it's supposed to taste like so I won't comment. I didn't particularly love it, but I didn't find it disgusting. The sauce was good for adding some kick to the chicken. I made the mistake of ordering an absolutely DELICIOUS watermelon martini and my friend got "the best lychee martini" she's ever had when we first sat at the bar. Switching to Coors and house white wine was a huge, sad downgrade. The bartenders were so cute, not to mention friendly and attentive. I was also pretty impressed with the decor and atmosphere at this place; I was expecting the typical Koreatown joint, but it really felt like a lounge. They played Jay-Z from Reasonable Doubt all the way to BP3 and dimmed the lights. I will definitely be back for the Tuesday deal and possibly even on a regular night to sample other Korean fare from the menu.
by Yuri Deguzman on I really love this place, despite it's location right smack dab in the Trederloin. Inside this little hole in the wall is a really great hall with a great upstairs, and if you time it just right you can get a great spot despite the general admission. Here, tickets are generally pretty affordable, and it's pretty easy to get to. I was here a couple of weeks ago, and really enjoyed the venue. It's got a great kitschy old vibe to it that I find really neat to look at, and a great place to go with friends. Despite being forced to see Fall Out Boy here with old friends from high school, the venue really made up for all the screaming children.
by Sharon R. on Totally the institution of the NYC jazz scene and a place all jazz enthusiasts must visit. The famous jazz greats all flock here to play sets to tourists and music aficionados alike. The cool and cozy dark decor is the perfect environment to sip an alcoholic bebida while bopping your head along to the tunes. An eclectic drink menu promises to please your alcohol pallet and make a dent in your wallet. The food is underwhelming and over priced for what you get, but no one comes here for the culinary experience. You come here for the music. I wish the sets could be longer. After an hour and fifteen minutes, folks are just getting warmed up, but you're getting the last call warning and your tab. And after dropping $30 on the music that's just slightly annoying. So I will have to return for the Friday and Saturday post-midnight amateur nights which sound awesome and like the bargain of the century.
