okay so i've been to the Highlands on both friday and saturday nights and although i am a huge fan of electro/techno music i must say that saturday night is by far the best night to go. of course one of the perks is ladies in free but the club in itself is amazing. 4 rooms, 2 separate balconies that overlook hollywood/highland, and a nice mix of people (can be somewhat ghetto fabulous!). of course there are some creepers and some guys can be relentless but nothing a girl can't handle. the music is a mix between hip-hop, R&B, top 40's, and they do throw in some of those old school jams (tootsie roll, dip, tupac, etc.). drink prices aren't too bad (paid $11 for an AMF), coat check is $3, and parking is only $2 w/ validation which you can get as you exit the club. another thing that i love is that on saturday's they keep going until 3 a.m.! the dress code isn't too strict but for the most part people dress to impress. overall this is definitely a chill spot that i will continue going back to!

For being no where near Italy this place took me back. I felt like once again I was in a smoky restaurant in Rome. Low ceiling, old family atmosphere, candle light, and well mannered excellent dressed wait staff. The food was divine, portions where available in standard large American size or you could do half portion and eat Italian style. Of course I went for the half portions. We started our meal with the olive tray delivered directly when seated at the table, followed by warm fresh garlic bread. Then the real treat began a fresh light melon salad, two half orders of pasta, mine was a great pesto with pine nuts. Then on to the mains. The Eggplant Parmesan was load with cheese and delicious, with a side of garlic laced spinach. Left overs even reheated well. Ohh, not to be missed the was a nice tray of real shredded Parmesan right on the table beside the salt and pepper. Don't think we stopped there. We pushed on to dessert the Tiramisu just wonderful couple it with a nice cup of espresso and I was in my own little heaven. Defiantly give this place a try. It would make a nice romantic outing.
