It's ironic how a place called The Edison, an old powerplant, was so dim, so dark, so burlesque. But down the old powerplant's steps, the lack of light did not deprive the establishment from bursts of energy. Absinthe fairies traversed the corridors serving pomegranate and pineapple absinthe bottles ($18), classic black and white silent films projected on the plain white walls, burlesque dancers confidently moved their bodies across the bar tabletop, and sharply dressed patrons gathered around the bar for a drink. The people and the environment was filled with its own type of energy. If you plan on going here, try to get a table reservation ($25 per person minimum). Fish and chips were solid, sliders were amazing and tender and the steak was a hit among the friends. They serve signature cocktails ($12+), most drinks, and my favorite-high-alcohol-content-beer: delerium tremens. It was busy on a Friday night. Lines started forming around 11pm, but some friends didn't have to wait for long. No dance floor, not necessarily a club, but you make it whatever you want it to be--feel free to dance wherever you want (bar tabletops reserved for those flexible burlesque dancers though!)

As a cafe, I prefer this over Mozart Cafe, due to the more open seating arrangements, as well as the music selection (at least when I went). The drink list is a bit mediocre, but ambiance is really important to me in a cafe. On the other hand, the actual baked goods aren't as ... well... tasty. I've got to agree with Yuna P on that point. Still, if you're stopping for a drink and a chat, give a chance to White Windmill. If only they had some board games...
