by Mymy L. on My boyfriend surprised me with tickets to see Norah Jones at the Orpheum a few weeks ago. It was my first time at this venue and it couldn't have been a more perfect spot to hear Norah. The Orpheum reminded me of the Pantages Theatre in terms of layout and the overall decor which is quite lovely and ornate. We were seated in the balcony which wasn't too bad although we couldn't quite make out any of Norah's facial expressions. I would love to get tickets next time in the orchestra section or the balcony box seats - those seats always remind me of the muppets for some reason. Acoustics are absolutely fantastic here. So even though I couldn't see Norah's sweet smile, the entire venue was filled with her sweet voice. The only odd thing that I couldn't help but notice was that one of the ushers would intermittently run up and down the aisles. I'm not sure if he was on video recording nazi duty but it was a bit distracting. Regardless, I would definitely go back to the Orpheum to catch another show.
by Freddie Boben on Hilarious. Go in and make fun of people, but only for fifteen minutes. Any longer and your skin will oxidize, melting off your body. The dancefloor is pretty depressing, almost to the point of unfunny. However, I must say, upon being dragged in one day the bartender charged us $5 total for five drinks, and there was no cover. Pretty sweet but DEAR LORD, THE BOREDOM made it almost not worth it. In fact, I may be getting my approval confused with the pizza across the street we had afterwards. That was pretty great.
