Let's try bullet points this time: *Lush, warm tones in a dark and sexy space. It's modern retro. Leather booths and a hoppin' DJ. Trendy, well-dressed crowd...just like the hostesses up front. *Reasonably priced and fresh raw oysters ($24/doz), small dishes and entrees (under $20). Notable dishes: ahi poke, oyster shooters, and the surf and turf. *Friendly, knowledgeable wait staff...efficient and on the ball despite the fact that they've only been open for a week. *Bartenders ROCK! Rosemary cocktails were so yummy. *Lounge area in front with full menu or more formal dining in the back area. *Dancing on late weekend nights. *Manager/Owner? Came by twice to make sure everything was golden. The only thing they need to figure out now is how to work that pretty espresso machine in the corner. Mayes: All around good time. A gem in a very fun neighborhood with happening nightlife and a late night doughnut place (Bob's) that scored 4.5 stars here on rateclubs?! That's my next destination.

Hiro is my guilty pleasure. And by guilty, I mean only when completely wasted. Hiro Saturdays are Asian night, if that's what you're into. I bring in the diversity, and we run around terrorizing the club (dance-circling whipped guys, pretending we know them). I do feel slightly bad for punking all those Asian boys with their jealous girlfriends but mostly it's just hilarious. Also, the guys who started the night are pretty cool. And by cool, I mean I can last minute drunk decide to go there wearing shorts, a t-shirt and flip flops without having to run home and skank it up. They also like to (superfluously) pour bottles of Goose, Patron & champagne down your throat, or just give you your own so you can run around the club doing the same to everyone else. Hiro Sundays are gay night. It's everything they say- madhouse, fuckfest, circus.. however you want to describe it. But if you can't have fun here, then you and/or your friends aren't fun. Drink up, buttercup! Mostly I love Hiro because it's the kind of place you can run free, you crazy wild child, you (see also: Annex). Tip: Also catch the GBH nights.. it's the indie crowd.

On our girls trip to ny, we had a couple of locals direct us towards Bob's after eating dinner at Social. We got there a bit early and it wasn't that packed yet, so we were a bit skeptical about the place. But within minutes, we were being crammed into the corner by the bar trying to get our drinks. The crowd was pretty diverse and the music was great! The dj played a pretty good mix of hip hop, dance, and 80's music. Loved it...if you love to dance and would rather hang out where the locals do, then BOB's is the place be.
