The stars say it all: A-OK. Came here for Cinco de Mayo. Affordable drinks, ok crowd, music was ok. Wouldn't necessarily come here every weekend, but it was fun for that one night.

Tavern is the closest thing the Philly gays have to a neighborhood pub. John Flynn, Gosha, Nile and Max are the most entertaining piano folk in the city, and they know everything. Karaoke is for losers, try singing an obscure Sondheim song with the piano at full voice over the loud and rowdy crowd all the while completely trashed. On weekends the place gets packed and the straights infiltrate (bachelorette parties, fag-hags), but on weekdays there's still good times to be had with all your friends who pretty much consider it "home base". The bartenders have been there for years and know all the regulars on a first name basis. Salada Tee upstairs spins on Saturday nights and she's gotta be one of the most fun DJs in the city. The restaurant is actually quite wonderful, too. Small, cozy, unpretentious and intimate with a very comfortable yet upscale menu. Tavern is my favorite bar EVAH!
