by Katherine S. on This is a review of the restaurant aspect of Cuba Libre. I came to Cuba Libre because I wanted to try Cuban food and we had a http://restaurant.com certificate. There were only 8 dishes available on the menu at Cuba Libre, and 1/2 of them were not available. How do i know this? I carefully read the description for all 8 and decided what I did or didn't want. When the server finally came over to us, I gave her my order and she said it wasn't available. I was disappointed but picked another entree, and again, she told me it wasn't available. This went on tirelessly and finally I ended up with the ribs, my 5th choice. We came around 7 and besides one other couple, no one else was in there, so I'm pretty sure they didn't just sell out of the items for the evening. I was pretty annoyed that she didn't just tell me from the beginning what items on the menu of EIGHT choices were actually available or not. The ribs were very unimpressive. They had a freezer taste to them and a rough, rubbery texture. The crab appetizer was the only saving grace to a pretty bad meal. I would maybe stop by again, but only for a drink. I'm really glad we had the http://restaurant.com certificate too, because paying full price for the quality of food they offered would have been a joke.
