Ok I don't like giving 1 star reviews but this place deserved it. 1. Took way too long to even get acknowledged to order a drink considering it was empty in comparison to other bars in the area during Queens Gay Pride yesterday. 2. Ordered a rum and coke (not even bacardi). $7. 3. Plastic cup (fine considering other bars were doing the same yesterday becuase of expected crowd). 4. The cup was the same size they used at Music Box, but I kid you not when I say they barely filled it halfway with the full drink (not just the rum or the coke, but the complete drink filled half the cup (maybe) They do have air hockey, foosball, ping pong, and plenty of pool tables.

If I were Hendrix, I might well note that 'there's a Red House over yonder,' and should I find myself along that long, skinny stretch of Manor Road, I'd likely be right. This is another one of those places that's struggled somewhat to unearth an organic, relatable identity over time, and to that end, after eating here the other night, this version felt more spot-on than previous incarnations. They've figured out a formula that works here, and it is this: keep things casual, focus on the menu items that worked best and got the most love prior to becoming a straight-on pizzeria (appropriately enough, the pizzas), make some killer pies, couple with above average offerings from the Red House Lounge. Rinse. Repeat. It's a grand place to gather with a few friends, and we took advantage of some archetypical patio weather to do just that. Several pizzas and cold ones later, there were satisfactory smiles all around. Sometimes reinventing the wheel isn't really what's called for: sometimes just knowing where to find friendly atmosphere and some of your better foodstuffs (shaped like wheels) is just what the doctor ordered. And we know how the doctor loves his pizza.
