3.5 stars There's no doubt that the venue is absolutely beautiful, but it needs to organize itself! Both times I've been here, there has been a massive, confused mob behind the red ropes. Although I can't complain, bc the bf and his friends are VIP here. They literally disappear for a minute each time and come back with tickets to pull me & our group through the crowd- the guest list doesn't even matter. I've never had to wait more than 3 minutes. But on my BFF's first visit, he literally waited an hour and couldn't get in. On a separate occasion, a group of my girlfriends had some trouble getting into the club, too. So consider yourself forewarned. The dance floor is pretty small, but it seems like most people who come here just hang around in the patio/smoking area to hang out. I don't know how much the drinks are- the bf and his friends never let the girls pay. I do know that two shots of Patron are $24, though (some guy tried to hit on me towards the end of the night... he was so drunk, I wonder if he realized I made him drink both shots before I walked away). I also know that a mini bottle of Voss is $5 (free water from the tap would have sufficed, but you know... the joys of being a spoiled girl). I don't know how much of the crowd actually makes it in every night, but the club is never TOO packed. It seemed a little empty when we went on November 6 (but that could be because it was the weekend right after Halloween and everybody was taking a break from partying). Definitely can't wait to come back =)

Typically, I'd write a long review detailing every incident, but there has been over 200 reviews and I honestly doubt anyone will really read this. Geno's is decent. When you're drunk at half-past 2:00am and get the drunchies from drinking all night, Geno's is alright. When you live like 4 blocks from it and you're really drunk, Geno's is damn good. When you're sober, and realize that some of the lunch trucks make better cheesesteak's than Geno's, you realize that it's not as amazing as it was the previous night. It does the job, it cures the salt/grease/cheese fix in one go, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go there. Also, to all you tourists: Yeah, it's KIND OF a landmark, but do you really want to go back to your home town saying that the "best" cheeseteaks in Philly suck? I thought not. Check out Jim's on South if you still feel like being a tourist, otherwise go to Tony Luke's. You'll thank me later.

Martuni's is the bar you go to when you've been out for a while having a great time, but then for some crackhead reason, you decide you want to have even more to drink. Really, they should just call the joint Ragers' Hall. I don't know -- maybe subconsciously every Martuni's patron wants a debilitating hangover the next day. We've all had that kind of week where you want to drink your troubles away. Martuni's will help you accomplish that goal, no problem. They'll also devour everything inside your wallet while they're at it, like some ravenous creature with an insatiable appetite for dollars and plastic. You'll be hard pressed to find a drink for less $7, but you get what you pay for: potent drinks expertly disguised as smooth, delicate cocktails. I like the place, but I don't love it. The staff can get surly: I can't blame them. They deal with a high volume of lushes. It's the awful music that really bugs me. I love me some cabaret as much as the next honest-to-goodness homo, but this is some budget shit right here. Whenever amateurs are at the piano, I feel like I've walked into an American Idol tryouts for old people. See the things you put up with for some good booze? Drinking is a bad habit kids: don't get into it if you can.
