24 hours's cool, but this is my last choice; I'd rather kick it on the curb. Pop Killer's next to it--that's cool. Waiter? Serious? That's out of place 'cause this place ain't classy. They got every cliche cheap trick: TV screens, unlit candles, uncomfortable couch seat dealies.. I need a Nautica jacket from '96. I asked for a ash tray. "Right away," dude said. Shit never happened & I started thinking he a smartass. Ambiance music in a cafe: sigh.. I don't fux with this place.

Ok, I admit. I embarrassingly used to be a frequenter of this pretentious try-to-be-New-York-but-we-miss-the-mark locale. G Lounge is more of a club than a bar and can be extremely loud and obnoxious, but it is the only place like it in Philly. Personally, I think the only reason you would go here is if you are a crazy ass dancer (that's me!), an ostentatious floozy by night (sigh, guilty again), or you like to prey on both of the aforementioned (although, perennial rejection is not for everyone...). G Lounge has a coat check and a cover. The cover is usually $10 for girls and $20 for guys, but for some reason it varies. Ironically, even though the guys pay $10 more, they pack the place out. Pretty diverse crowd ethnically. Age-wise, I'd say the girls are usually young 20s, but the guys run older. When I go here I think, FLASHING Li-i-ghts, bottle service, expensive drinks (that I'm not paying for...) and stilettos. Bring on the shimmery shirts and the fist pumping. Even if this is not your scene, there is a lot to make fun of. I promise the entertainment value is through the roof!

It is what it is. If it's a weekend, go with a group of at least 8 and get bottle service. If there are guys in the group, reserve the table in advance. It's a decent happy hour spot if you want to check out the decor without the pretension at the door. My experience: I went with a group of 8 other girls at 9:30 on a Friday night and walked right in to a mostly empty club. We got bottle service at a table (sans reservation) because it was the only way we would have a place to sit and put our stuff (all the tables are reserved weekend nights, it seems). The hostess and cocktail waitress were very sweet. We had a great time dancing to just the right blend of cheesy hip hop and pop. Dudes (mostly douchebags) pretty much left us alone, though we made friends with other groups of girls with the same dance party agenda. I've also been to happy hour there a couple of times and enjoyed myself.
