My favorite Atlanta club! I'm a danceaholic (see my profile pics for evidence) and this is THE danceteria in Atlanta. It's super grungy, at the bottom of, what's for all intents and purposes, a cave. But on Friday nights the DJ plays the best mix of old school hip hop, funk and 80s pop on the main floor, with more reggae tinged sounds in the little room off the entrance. I can budget $20 and have a blast: $10 for the entry, $5 for a Lemon Drop and $4 for a Red Stripe and have a good time. The men are friendly, if not the most affluent. You'll find none of the posturing and flashiness of the more mainstream Atlanta clubs. The crowd is a mix of ages and I feel comfy going there solo. Love it!

Depends on what you're going for. Mayan is gigantic, with 3 floors and 3 different musical genres going on at any given time, and that may be fun or it can be overwhelming. don't bother going when there isn't a live band, bc the music sucks and the vibe is totally whack. they do have some good salsa bands here, usually on saturday nite. It's like $15-20 cover, and I'm not sure if they do a guest list. Personally I prefer a smaller venue but if you're going all-out and trying to please a crowd with different types of music preferences, then check it out.

Let me preface this by saying I'm the kind of guy that likes to hang out in the East Village or LES drinking $5 PBR/whisky shot specials whilst wearing my t-shirt, jeans, & chucks. That said, my friend invited me out because she was on the guest list. She failed to mention, however, that for guys that just meant you got in faster. Cover: $20. Drinks: $10 for a Beam & Coke. Music: crap. Staff: rude. Atmosphere: lame. Summary: This whole place is a novelty (that wears off extremely quickly) with shitty rude staff and retarded prices. I'll do my dancing where it's actually fun, thanks.
