by rachel m. on I had a groupon for taverna plaka but after reading all the SO SO reviews I was a little nervous about eating here. We went on a Tuesday night and there was self park..no valet, which i prefer. We were immediately sat and greeted by our server Fouzey (not sure of the spelling but he said like Foosball) he was nice and very zealous when we told him it was our first time. He brought our drinks and the hummus you mash your self. its FREE AND YUMMY! Those of you who complain about this are crazy, it took all over 30 seconds to do and it was fun. It did come out with bread but whatever. It was pretty quite and then the music kicked in and it was loud like previously stated by everyone else and the dancer came around and did her thing. You can tip her much like you would do a stripper and I am pretty sure her next shift was going to be at the Doll House down the street but it was entertaining. We didn't have any money to tip her so our table didn't get as much love as others which was fine by us. And I did notice the music went back to a better level when she was done with her rounds. I am not sure if the week nights are just more relaxed. We ordered the flaming cheese and i was fun although it was still kind of bright outside so it was hard to see, the taste was very yummy and again you eat it with bread, GASP! We both got the gyro plate and it was good. It same with enough meat and pita bread, the tzaziki was AWESOME, as were the greet potatoes, the salad was just ok. Another server came by and forced us to get up and dance but it is all a part of the fun. We did it for like 30 seconds and then snuck back to our seats, no harm no foul. The service was good and I could see how some people could say it was slow but you should just sit back and enjoy whats going on around you. If your server doesn't bring you silver ware don't sit around and let your food get cold for 10 minutes..not the smartest thing to do. This does strike me as more of a group place and not a couples place.
by Sherill Vandever on This is what happened to me, a week ago i was there and got a tab for 77$ i only order 2 jager bomb and 2 miller light, i told then they probably got my tab mixed with someone else, so they said thats how much i have to pay and they didnt even wanted to hear what i had to say ..... i told then i was not going to pay, so they hand cuff me and took me outside beat me down pretty bad, and tazer me, I told then i was in the military and just got back from deployment they said i dont give a shit, I'll be back once im released again and i know exactly who was in the bunch that beating me down while i was in hand cuffs....... oh and they forced me to pay 20$ tip, i told then no and they hit me like 4 more times.... one of the guy that beat me down was a cop... cant wait till im released from duty again...... i didnt serve this country for ppl like this to beat me up like that, I'm coming back.... i got pictures of all my bruises and tazer markes on my stomach and back....
