Pros: -Best decor I've seen for an asian club. Lighting only added to the ambiance. -Plenty of seating as these little couches were everywhere, including the dance floor. -Admission wasn't too bad at $15, but they charged the guys in front of me $20 (don't know how that happened). Cons: -Overpriced drinks at around $12, but at least they didn't add in the automatic 20% gratuity like Circle. I haven't paid this much since I went clubbing at Central in Hong Kong, but it's New York City, so whatever. -Looooooooooooong line to get in. Line was wrapped around the building, my name was on the list, and I came at 10:45. That's early as hell where I'm from.

A damn fine art gallery in poppin' Potrero. I went there to drink in some art (and some drinks) during Noise Pop. That week there was a collection of stunning portraits of musicians through the ages (everyone from Quincy Jones to Marilyn Manson), and some really terrific paintings themed on rock, California, etc. http://www.p1sf.com/20... I mean, one piece had an asking price of $4,500, and it was literally a drum set arranged in a corner with a couple of lights and rose pedals strewn around it. It infuriated and enchanted me at the same time. It's interactive, transient, visible as well as audible (if someone's playing it), and it questions the whole idea of what art really is or should be. Art! Art?! ARRRRTTTTTT!!!!! Dahhhhh..... This place is HUGE. Art shows up on every surface, but there is a separate, quieter room with museum-quality lighting for the more contemplative connoisseur. The bar (no hard alcohol as of this posting, only beer/wine/soju cocktails) sits in the main room where there's a sizable DJ booth, dance floor, sofas, more art on the walls, and a screen where you might catch a dark and brooding rockumentary about a band that is way too cool for the likes of you to listen to. Damn, that was a little too snarky. Sorry. But I'm not gonna erase it. Because I mean it, that's why! I would love to go back to P1 when it's totally packed on a Friday or Saturday.
