by Daniel P. on The Exchange LA is a neighbor of mine. Initially I was excited to see additional nightlife options open in the neighborhood, but this place has become more of a nuisance than a pleasure. The website has yet to advertise their events and schedule - the venue is open on seemingly random dates and it appears there are more private than public events. On open days, the lines seem to extend way beyond the doors and like other commenters, people appear to wait for no reason to get it. Perhaps they're trying to create a "buzz" that it's a packed house. Once in, the music is generally a mix of good and bad. They would be better off bringing in DJ's that stick to a certain genre or theme. The bar service is mediocre and a tad overpriced. Most horrific is the number of fights that break out in the street after 1am. Almost every weekend now, gaggles of screaming girls and machismo douchebags start slapping and throwing punches at one another. The minimal security scramble to the scene but never rid the area of these drunken idiots, rather they push them 50 yards away as if it is now a neighborhood problem. Moments later, the defendants come flailing about to the front doors and the scene repeats itself. Last night the brawls became so idiotic (and unmanaged by security) that the street was lined with no less than 8 cop cars and a helicopter flying overhead. The police disbursed, only to return a short while later. I can only suspect that the streets scenes are an extension of the stupidity that now ensues inside... and with that in mind, I have no desire to go back and partake in juvenile antics and have to fear for my safety when I'm out to have fun.
by Karin Parez on Two words. Piano lounge. This place was great. We had tinis up the ying-yang yeoh. We also managed to upped the hetero percentage to at least 40%. Didn't mean to. Regardless, this place was fun. We drank, sang, and drank and sang some more. Then, it was time to go home Boohoo.
by Marcella Stromski on Go to Luckie for the atmosphere and the drinks...not the food!! Its a nice place to see the "beautiful people" and have great (expensive) drinks but as far as dining, that's a negative. I have the shrimp and grits which were awful. My friend had the fish tacos which were awful. My boyfriend had a streak which was extremely tough. So like I said go for the drinks and the cool hip environment.
