When you know a place has to put a load of rice on their rolls or nigiri........it's definitely not a good sign. My menu for dinner: 1.agadashi tofu- great, but how bad can you go wrong with this? 2.spicy girl roll- eh like a roll of rice and thin layer of fish and spicy sauce http://3.chi roll- a lil better than the spicy girl, but still nothing so special http://4.escolar, scallop, peppered tuna nigiri- all together not so bad 5.ankimo -so good, buttery and delish So that's where you get an average of 3 stars.

First of all, some important information: There is a dress code that is not that strictly enforced. I always dress up slightly for Hiro, but always end up hating myself after seeing a ton of guys wearing sneakers. There is a $20 cover for guys. Drinks are slightly expensive. More ofthen than not, they enforce a pretty strict guy-girl ratio. The crowd is 99% Asian. With that said, I've been to Hiro more often than I would like to admit. Half the time I really like the place, the other half I want to dragon punch everyone in the club. To be honest, you really have to be in the mood for this place and I really suggest going with a bunch of your single guy friends and getting completely wasted. This goes the same for the ladies too. The times that I've enjoyed myself were times I went with a group of 4-5 guys on a dudes night out. To be financially efficient, get a table. I'm not promoting for this club, but if you want to save some bread...get a table. Table minimum is $250 (1 bottle of Johnny Black) without tip. So if you do the math, it's around $300 total split between 4-5 of you guys. If you get a table, you do not have to pay the $20 cover, you have a place to put your coats, and you have an entire bottle of alcohol waiting for you. While the bouncers always put in extra hours being assholes to enforce the 1:1 ratio, there are ALWAYS more guys inside. For guys who bitch and moan about the lack of women in the club, just remember that you somehow got into the club too and save it for one of your friends who's not already grinding up on some girl. The dance floor is crowded and tiny, but there is plenty of space in the rest of the club. There are two seperate bars downstairs and they are almost always crowded, but I usually never have a problem grabbing a beer. If it REALLy gets out of hand, there's a smaller bar upstairs. Everyone else's observation regarding the dj and music is 100% true -- it really blows. It's really that bad. And yes, they will put the same track on rotation multiple times a night. If I hear Paper Planes one more time at that club, I may have to start crackin heads. With music aside, I think Hiro is a great time 50% of the time, everytime. Go with the mentality of getting sloppy drunk and with the right squad and you'll enjoy your night.

before i reached the big 2-1, everyone would tell me how c00l the cat club was, so going in i had high expectations. little did i know that to them, c00l was 30 year olds in dress shirts or skimpy tops from forever 21. the music is lower than crap and the lines for the bathroom are ridiculous. i can't believe i payed a cover for such a despicable place. another annoyance: thursday nights are 1984, but they play top 40 bull* like jay z or christina aguilera. wha????!!!???
