Actually quite a fun place. The music is a bit on the loud side (my ears are still ringing from last night), but they kept it alive in there. They also have girls swinging or playing with fire throughout the night. That was cool to watch but people sometimes stop dancing just to watch. I went on a Saturday night at 1am and left around 3am and it was still pretty packed. Easy to get in, $10 cover. A good girl/guy ratio and easy to meet/dance with others if that's what you're there for. Good place to hang out with friends too. I always check the bathroom in the clubs for some reason....and this one wasn't very good. Kind of messy - when you flush, the water comes out of the toilet (that's pretty sad). They also have a guy handing you towels to wash your hand, but it's kind of out of place because the paper towels are normal and the bathrooms are below average. You kind of leave thinking you have to give the guy a tip, and you should if he services you. So back to the club - good, I'd come here again. Well-worth the $10 cover. Drinks are..normal NYC club prices (expensive)

I am one of those people who checks out what all the hype is about.  I was weirded out that a place I would get wasted and dance the night away at Shelter and Privelege was now a place to eat ONLY.  But lets check out the buzz...XIV did not live up to it.  The service was impeccable, props to them for that.  I think they improved that after their initial opening.  Wait was not long at all for having a reservation, but this is Hollywood, if you're hot, you don't wait.  Ambiance was gorge as well.  Food was alright.  Drinks - ok let me just tell you we ordered apple martinis and lychee martinis - how did they all end up EXACTLY the same: a lemon drop!!!  I don't know what world an apple martini comes out yellow.  The bartender only knows how to make that apparently.  When I pointed this out and then asked for a Cosmo - it came out as a pink lemon drop!  Hilarity. I love well made duck, the Liberty Duck was not great, it was OK at best.  The accompanying foie gras was ehh.  Sad to say.  I really wanted to like it.  The dessert was like sorbet you could buy at the grocery store, the chicken was bland.  I must say the ONLY good thing was the kobe beef carpaccio.  Now that ish was bomb.  But a $450 meal to only like one thing, and it was an appetizer of only 6 pieces?  Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I usually like SBE spots - but I think they focus more on hype, hip-ness, and décor rather than food quality.  But they'll make their money anyway, *sigh...la de dahhh.

Had a very mixed experience at Blvd3, I was tempted to give it 2 stars, but decided to be nice and go ahead and give it 3. First off, the bad: Is it just me, or is this place not as nice as the pictures make it out to be? The outdoor area is pretty ballin, especially with the weird fire thing, but the main indoor room kind of looked like a middle school gym to me, albeit a VERY NICE and baller looking middle school gym...I have no idea if this makes sense but I guess what I'm saying is that even though it looks "nice," it really was just one big space and the walls are pretty plain. Drinks were overpriced by normal standards, average priced for club standards...but were weaksauce! Remind me to order straight shots at clubs rather than watered down cocktails. Music...typical clubstyle wack. All top-40 radio stuff..nothing that you wouldn't expect here. Now onto the good. First off, entry was not the ridiculous crapshoot that it is at the "other" exclusive Hollywood clubs. Basically if you're willing to pay a $20 cover, you can get in, pretty standard. Secondly, good looking girls. And third, and most important of all, FREE TACOS omgod! I don't know if this is a regular thing, but they were grilling up the goodness the night I went.
