by Santiago Narlock on Being a waitress myself for some years I have always understood that it can be a tough job. I am fully aware when a server is under a tremendous workload and is trying their best. I, in return, am a very patient and understanding guest. As are my friends who I brought down to Bordello on Saturday 23rd. On this particular visit, my 3rd to Bordello, and my last, my friends and I all waited very patiently for 40 minutes for our waitress just to take our food order. The place was fairly busy but not packed. My friends and I were all very hungry and not one of us could find our waitress. I decided to look for the manager. I politely asked the manager (if you can call him that) if our waitress was still on duty. He looked at me with a smug face and replied "Yeah" I began to, yet again, very politely explain that my table had been waiting for 30mins for our waitress to take a food order. It was actually 40mins, but I did not want to get the waitress in any trouble. Manager Nano, rudely and abruptly responded that "It's a little hard for the waitress to maneuver in this crowd"' as If I were stupid for not noticing. I did not find it at all "hard" to walk my way through the patrons. It was a silly excuse. I was simply inquiring and not interrogating him. I walked away stunned by his unprofessional behavior. His attitude was not one of helpful resolve, but one of arrogance and anger. As were the bartenders. When my friends and I were trying to buy drinks, at different times through out the evening, the bartenders passed us by several times to do absolutely nothing. Not to take drink orders, not to clean glasses, or pull stock. They just wanted to be smug and pull the "Bartender Power Trips". When did a simple "I'll be right with you" or a quick glance of acknowledgment go out of style? Funny, for a bar which tries to recreate an era of class and elegance to lack in both.
