by Melinda Holsapple on Started in 1975 by Irene Lazzeri, Irene's Lounge has become an iconic landmark of historic downtown Tavares FL. Located near David Walker Drive, less than 2 miles from downtown. Irene's has been a choice hangout for locals, fisherman and tourists alike.
Irene was proud of her club, the color pink, and wasn’t shy to express it. Pulling in her reserved parking spot everyday in her pink Cadillac was enough to prove to anyone that Irene was definitely in charge. She knew everyone's name, number and drink. Irene passed away Aug. 23, 2009, and the lounge was put up for sale. On Aug 16, 2011, Jason Lee purchased the club. After careful deliberation, decided it would be best to carry on Irene's name and the color pink, but with new traditions that's will refuel Irene's as the new hot spot for everyone to enjoy. We added new entertainment and selections of beverages to the convenient drive through package store.
