Domo arigato Mr. Morimoto! I loved this place! Myself and three friends had dinner at Morimoto's two weeks ago for one of their birthdays, and we had such a great time. The decor was a little weird, it felt like retro-future-space age, if that makes any sense, but the food, drinks and service were spot on. It wasn't cheap but for the most part was definitely worth it. We tried different mixed drinks and sakis, appetizers and main dishes. The tempura rock shrimp made me weak in the knees. By the time my main course came I was pretty much full. I ordered the lobster and sadly it was my least favorite of the night. Too many spices on it to even taste the crustacean, and it was slightly overcooked (blasphemy!). But after 3 or 4 sakis and lotus-y whatever they were drinks, I didn't really care. Somehow I managed to squeeze in some dessert and not get sick on the car ride home, so it was a win-win night!

I just have to disagree with a lot of these posts when they talk about the service. I can absolutely say that we experienced 5 star service while recently celebrating a birthday! We received such attentive care from Danny, Nick and such a lovely young woman at the reception desk (sorry I forgot your name!). As I mention in many of my reviews, I go out to eat to have delicious food but primarily to have delicious food and an excellent customer service experience. Definitely received that here! Though everyone we encountered was quite friendly, a special shout out to Danny and Nick. They really did make us feel so special. Now then... to the food. Tandoori Chicken - yum city Octopus - slightly oily for my taste Paella (a special that evening) - please make that permanent fixture! Lobster Mac 'n Cheese - oh yes... totally indulgent Crab Pad Thai - very nice Duck Confit Salad (a special that night) - and very special it was! We did not have dessert there as we had brought a birthday cake ($3 plating fee, but very nicely presented and cake to go wrapped up conscientiously). All in all - thank you for such a great time! Despite a very, very busy Saturday night we did not feel anything except truly attentive service.

Honestly, I'm getting to the point in my life where I want other options for after-dinner activities that don't involve standing for hours in a crowded bar with drunken frat boys and ultra-cool hipsters pushing and shoving to get a $15 drink. Sugar Cafe is a place that will satisfy both the parents and the kids--its relaxed, yet lounge-y, and comfortable, yet trendy. And thank god for the seats. Finally a place where you don't have to pay for bottle service in order to sit down to have a drink (or a coffee, for the people in the group who'd rather not drink) and some conversation. We had a combination of all of the above: started out with shots, ordered some desserts, had some coffee. The problem with this place, as others have mentioned, is the lackadaisical attitude of the staff. I don't know if they were being serious, but I had to repeat our order of 2 desserts about 5 times, before the guy finally took the menu and asked me to point at what I wanted...then asked again, so he could be sure. One hour later, the desserts arrived at our table--a table littered with coffee cups and plates probably collected over the entire day. When the desserts arrived, it didn't even register that they should pick up the dishes that we had stacked neatly at the edge of the table. And while the shots we had were pretty tasty, the guy had no idea how to make the shots, consulting the menu another 5 times to see what was in the shot. For the record, there are only 5 or 6 shots. How hard can it be? We ordered the key lime shots, but it tasted more like pina colada. Whatever. I'd still probably go back.
