by Roselee Sutcliff on I came here for Om & Get Physical Records' recent party w/ DJ T and I was really impressed with this venue. Although it has an industrial, loft-like feel, it seemed clean and well designed. The location of the DJ booth, the visuals' placement, and the sound were great. In terms of convenience, I also loved the super high ceilings which seemed to wick off some of the "club heat", the ample street parking, & the great mirrors in the womens' restrooms. I would definitely come here again, although next time I'll bring more cash since they don't take credit cards.
by Annemarie Souphom on I tried going here about three times. Hearthrob wasreally dead the times I went and I still had to pay a cover. Too many weird trying to hard hipsters, wayyyyy to dark, no seating, and no one was dancing. If you want to dance and have a good time for real - go down the street to the middle east.
by Veronica G. on The sound from a good system and a good act (be it singing, rapping or spinning) can be all I need to get this girl's booty shakin'. This place reminds me that yes, V, you CAN dance without alcohol or anything else recreational and in a space this big, you can do it for hours. Gay men parading around, groovin' and macking sans shirts reminds me that yes, V, you CAN get your fill of good lookin' men without hooking up with anyone for the night. And a GREAT DJ with a mic who encouraged my dumbass to sing along with the Eurythemics "Sweet Dreams" and who mixed it "just so" made me believe that yes, V, you CAN sing if you want to. And then I walked outside back into reality.... Thank you thank you thank you THANK YOU Mezzanine for helping me escape the crushing blows of how life really is (even if it is for just a few choice hours).
