I would have to rate Ecco some where in the middle of 3 and 4 stars. The ambiance and decor is very cool. I loved the vibe of the restaurant and it was a normal weeknight when I visited. The servers were all pleasant and he gave us the rundown especially with all their fun drink names. We ordered items that fellow rateclubsers recommended such as the shortrib stuffed peppers, fried goat cheese w/ honey, and the squid with salsa verde. The goat cheese and peppers were fantastic. Some of the best dishes I've had in a while. I was hoping the meal would stay on that very high note, but alas I was to be disappointed with the entrees to come. My girlfriend ordered the bluefish with sultana raisins and I had the pasta with braised something....it was forgettable. The dessert was on the other hand quite delicious. My girlfriend never had olive oil ice cream before so we decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed in the least. It had a slight fruity olive flavor on the finish, but the texture was very pleasant and just as delicious as the real deal. My overall experience was a positive one and I will come back to sample their small plates. I feel like their tapas style starters are real good and so were their drinks. The open kitchen is also a nice touch when entertaining.

The only club/lounge i've been to in SF.. and I like it! Gosh, all these hot venues always end up with 3 stars because the dive-bar lovers come to places like this and complain about overpriced drinks, pretentious crowd, yada yada.. A friend recommended this place to me, came here on a Saturday night- and it was great! Decor is fresh and trendy, the bartenders are pretty amazing... so swift without missing a beat - i've never seen that before.. go witness them in action! The music in the dance room was the un-danceable trance - we asked the DJ to spin some of the more mainstream hip hop/pop/dance tracks but he said he didnt have any and it was a trance room! The main area had great music though- weaving in new songs with some 90s jams in between- the best! The co-ed restroom concept (is this a SF thing?) is great - speaking of equal rights.. no waiting 30 minutes while your guy pals are done in less than 2! I really like this place.
