I like this little wine bar on Castro. Every time I have been here they have had live music and the staff is always really friendly. The atmosphere is definitely different from any of the gay bars on Castro which is good if you are looking for a relaxing environment. Also, their staff introduced me to the magic of Malbec, so this will remain my top choice of wine bars because of that!

I went here for a work dinner with about 15 people. they sat us on the elevated platform in the lounge area where the seats dip into the platform. Since our group was so big, we had the tasting menus and everything was perfect. all the sushi was really fresh and the drinks were amazing. I highly recommend the coconut mojito, i don't like coconut usually, but this was just the perfect balance. The music later in the night was awesome too!

The food is excellent, creative, and exotic. The menu has a good selection and each dish has it's own unique style. If in doubt, you can always ask the helpful waiters/waitresses. The service is excellent as well. I really liked how they serve the sake (had Kurosawa, very fine choice) like it's a wine bottle. They show you the label before pouring and then keep it in an ice bucket, which is a new trend I hope catches on. Also, had my Asahi beer poured and refilled almost everytime, never got below half empty. Once again, the waiters and servers are trained well and really keep an eye out for you. What I enjoyed most was the chef coming out and talking/introdcuing about the dishes. Not sure if this will happen when it's packed on weekends (I went on a Thurs night), but it made the place much more personal with a friendlier ambiance. World famous Chef Kamiyama gave us his personal touch on each dish which made it even more tastier. I recommend this place for anyone who wants to go out and try something new, a great date place or for special occassions, and anyone who has a taste for fine Japanese/asian cusine and sake. As for parking, the valet behind the place is a bit expensive, the guy tried charging $10. Cheaper parking can be found in the lot behind Geisha House which is $8 for the whole night. But it's Hollywood, you gotta come early or be lucky to find good parking.
